A series of travel-themed collages

The series of collages, created as an art project, depict two travel destinations in Italy that are personally important to the author – the island of Ischia and the city of Rome. The posters aim to capture and convey personal experience and emotional connection to these places.

PURPOSE
The task was to create an aesthetic and narrative visual series that could weave historical heritage and personal experience into a contemporary form. An additional challenge was to create something personal and modern from public domain materials.

APPROACH
Only public domain artworks, illustrations and historical photographs were used in the creation of the collages. Each poster has a central visual element – for example, the Colosseum and artichokes on the Rome poster, and the Aragonese Castle and references to the 1960s on the Ischia poster. The Ischia poster draws inspiration from Elena Ferrante’s book and TV series “My Brilliant Friend”, emphasizing a retro feel and local life. The Rome poster combines classical historical heritage with a contemporary sensibility, using sculptures, astrological schemes and botanical references to reflect the city’s layered and timelessly captivating nature.

RESULT
The poster series creates a strong visual and emotional bridge between the author’s personal memories and universally recognizable cultural symbols. The use of public domain materials and the collage technique allow the viewer to experience the destinations from a novel and
poetic perspective.
